Black Carpet Beetle
Appearance
- Approximately 3-5mm long.
- Shiny black to dark brown in colour, with brownish legs.
Life Cycle
- Physical maturity achieved in 6-12 months.
- Larva up to 7mm long when fully fed.
- Body covered with stiff bristles.
Habits
- Relatively widespread and destructive.
- Often associated with bird-nesting in roof cavities.
- Leather, silk, carpet and felt are all at risk of infestation.
